The best generator for art I've found is ASCII Generator dotNET by Jonathan Mathews. and it is free, open source software, which means there is no trial period or license fee. I recommend it for your ASCII art drawings. It is very simple to use: load a JPG file and it goes to work. You can even change the ASCII characters to enhance the image such as the humble number sign #.
